Established over 100 years ago.
In 1921, the El Paso Tennis Club became a reality. Led by E.E. Mike Neft and a group of forty men, they built four clay courts surrounded by a fence and a clubhouse. In 1922, N.A. Ferguson, known as Fergie, began his winning streak in men's singles and continued to win multiple titles with his son. The club initially excluded women and children but opened its doors to them in 1923. The club gained recognition for its quality clay courts and hosted notable players in tournaments. In the late '30s, night leagues under lights became popular, and the early '40s brought skilled players from Fort Bliss. Margaret Varner and Margaret Osborne DuPont were standout female players, and the club relocated in 1948 to its current location with twelve courts. The '50s and '60s saw further expansion and the emergence of new players under the guidance of Leslie Berkes, the club pro.
